Sustainability at Silky Oaks

Silky Oaks has a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan. The architectural design of the property has been planned to maximise the benefit of natural weather patterns, encouraging flow-through ventilation and the use of glazing to capture sunlight and store natural heat. Wherever possible, energy efficient equipment is utilised to reduce energy consumption, including low wattage light bulbs and ‘daylight’ switches.

Biodegradable chemicals are used for cleaning and extensive recycling is undertaken. All waste water is sent to the property’s own waste water management plant, and once processed through a sand filter system this water is then distributed around the property’s forested areas.
