Overview

Journey to a historic Homalco First Nation village site, take on a quest for whales and marine wonders, and rendezvous with wild Grizzly Bears – all in one epic day!

Your adventure begins in Campbell River and journeys through the enchanting Discovery Islands on the Salish Sea. Along the way, learn about Homalco people, their culture and their timeless connection to the land from your knowledgeable guide. Keep a look out for orcas, humpbacks, dolphins, sea lions and eagles.

Step off the boat onto rugged shore at Aupe. Take an interpretive walk around the former village, where your Homalco guide will generously share traditional stories, language, and legends. But the adventure is not over.

Your voyage continues to the breathtaking Bute Inlet and legendary Orford Bay, the realm of the Grizzly Bears. Lunchtime at the Orford Bay dock is a treat in itself, with unobstructed views of the estuary and its stunning mountainous surroundings.

After lunch, your 3-hour land-based exploration begins. Travel by bus to elevated viewing platforms and prime ground-level spots for the perfect wildlife vantage points. Search for bears, elk, and eagles along the salmon-rich Orford and Algard rivers. Snap photographs that capture moments of bears in their natural splendour.

I left a piece of myself in The Yukon. Tombstone Territorial Park is one of those places that stays with you with its dramatic vibe –  burnt orange and deep red autumnal colours, huge rolling fluffy clouds, and the freshest air. I had to be forced to leave.
