Middle-earth Filming Locations Tour, Wellington

From £199

8 hours

Year Round

Overview

An extended, full-day tour, this excursion allows fans to enjoy a myriad of the filming locations for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Including Rivendell, found on the Anduin River, the Gardens of Isengard, and many others, you will begin your day at the Mount Victoria lookout and Buckland Forest.

This will be followed by a visit to the Dunharrow Rohirrim encampment and quarry, used for the filming of Helm’s Deep in Rohan and Minas Tirith in Gondor. An al fresco lunch will be served at one of the region’s leading restaurants before your journey through Middle Earth continues.

Following lunch, your group will continue to the site of Lothlorien, the majestic Fernside Lodge, before returning towards the city of Wellington itself. Now you will see why the city is affectionately known as Welly-wood, by heading to the city’s suburb of Miramar, production central and the home of Peter Jackson and many of the cast and crew.

The Weta Cave, Wellington’s premiere Lord of the Rings venue, features some unique souvenirs and an exclusive behind-the-scenes video of the Weta Workshop.

I understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and that’s why you have the freedom to design your experience, your way.
