Milford Sound Cruise and Kayak, Te Anau

From £103

Year Round

Overview

Kayaking on Milford Sound is an extraordinary experience, where the stunning scenery is all the more dramatic from sea level.

Enjoy the flora, fauna & wildlife on this Encounter Nature Cruise at Milford Sound with a full commentary on the natural history of the Sound. This is followed by a trip to the Milford Discovery Centre and Underwater Observatory before enjoying a relaxing one hour kayak around Harrison Cove with spectacular views up Harrison’s Valley to the Pembroke Glaciers.

There is one specialist nature guide aboard the vessel, Lady Bowen, which takes 75 passengers on an intimate and interactive Milford Sound experience.

Our operator for this excursion is proud to sponsor The Sinbad Sanctuary Project, a conservation project dedicated to restoring Sinbad Gully, located next to the iconic Mitre Peak, to its original pest-free status. They have been working towards this goal for the past decade, through the trapping of predators such as stoats, rats and possums and monitoring beech seed fall.  The gully is already home to at least 20 different native bird species, as well as three species of threatened lizard. Supporting this project goes beyond financial commitment too, as staff are also involved in predator control, surveying and monitoring, and the combined efforts of all those involved in the project has delivered significant results over the past 10 years.

A picnic lunch is included. Snacks available on board for purchase. Complimentary tea and coffee available.
