Orakei Korako, New Zealand’s largest geyser field is a highly active geothermal area located just north of Taupo alongside the Waikato River.

Known locally as “The Hidden Valley”, Orakei Korako is famed for its dramatic silica terraces and multiple geysers where up to 23 are still active. Marvel at the bubbling mud pools and inviting natural springs or enjoy a self-guided bushwalk along one of the many walking tracks. Included in your admission is a visit to New Zealand’s only natural geothermal cave known as Ruatapu Cave which extends more than 35 metres down to a natural hot pool. After admiring the multiple natural wonders of this area visit the Mudcake Café and relax with a warm drink overlooking this spectacular landscape.
