Overview

A river of ice complete with deep crevasses, shimmering blue pools and sparkling waterfalls, journeying out onto the Root Glacier is not for the faint of heart.

A five hour hike onto this incredible piece of ice provides walkers with stunning views of the Regal Mountain and twenty-four kilometres of entrancing blue and white glacier. Incredible ice shapes and deep, incomparable colours stir the imagination and the very concept of walking on such ancient ice is hard to comprehend.

After leaving this natural wonder behind, you will return to Kennicott, where you will enjoy a 2 hour tour of the old mining town. Stepping back in time, explore the remains of mining operations which were abandoned nearly a century ago. Local guides are enthusiastic and bring the area to life with incredible stories about the intriguing characters who sought their fortunes in this northern clime.
