Overview

Take an unforgettable helicopter flight over the volcanic landscapes of Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, including the site of the most recent eruption near Grindavik.

Having lain dormant in the Geldingadalur valley for 800 years, a fissure stretching several hundred metres finally opened up at Fagradalsfjall in March 2021, revealing the spectacular sight of burning red lava which has since cooled to a river of black rock. The volcano has erupted again multiple times in recent months, with fissures opening near the evacuated town of Grindavik. With the most recent eruption by Mt. Hagafell still active, the volcanic peaks and lava fields of the Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark stand testament to the volatility of nature, and are best appreciated from the air.

All flights are dependent on weather, volcano conditions and minimum numbers. Advance booking is essential, places are limited.
