Year Round

Overview

Ironically making up a part of New Zealand’s Nine Great Walks, a voyage by boat down the Whanganui River is a gentle journey through lush native forests and rugged terrain.

A central waterway for both the indigenous Maori and the steamboats of the early European pioneers, this river was one of the most important in New Zealand’s history, helping to spread industry and unite the North Island. Thus, any trip down this river is a tour through an area of both great beauty and great historical significant.

The river from Taumarunui to Pipiriki is part of the Great Walk network and this full-day, fully guided canoe trip carries visitors through this area of rich greenery and tranquil waters. Transfers to and from the National Park and Whakapapa Villages, guide, canoe & paddling equipment as well as a Department of Conservation Hut pass are all included.

Duration: 1 day
Price: from £152 per person
Departures: daily, on demand (weather permitting)

I understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and that’s why you have the freedom to design your experience, your way.
