Iconic trails
Snaking through a spectacular region of the Icelandic Highlands, the 55km-long Laugavegur trail is one of the world’s greatest hiking routes. It takes you on an unforgettable journey from the geothermal hot springs of Landmannalaugar to the verdant glacial valley of Thorsmork, passing colourful mountain slopes, glaciers, lakes and rivers along the way.
In East Iceland, Borgarfjordur Eystri is riddled with superb hiking trails, including the surreal, boulder-strewn mountain valley of Storurd and the deserted coastal inlet of Brunavik. Also in the East, the nature reserve at Skalanes and idyllic Seydisfjordur offer great walking opportunities. In West Iceland, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula is also rich in hiking potential. Stride out along the cliffs between Arnarstapi and Hellnar for rock arches, blowholes and seabirds, or set your sights on the snowy slopes of the dormant volcano Snaefellsjokull.
Whether you wish to explore independently or in a small escorted group, we can help find your ideal walking and hiking holiday. It’s time to lace up those boots – this country was made for walking.
