Bear Viewing at Brooks Falls, Homer

From £709

12 -14 hours

Jun-Aug

Overview

Renowned for its large population of brown bears, which gather annually at the Brooks River and Brooks Falls to enjoy a silvery feast of salmon, Katmai National Park provides prime viewing opportunities.

Usually seen throughout the summer, optimal viewing of the bears runs from the end of June to the end of July and again from the end of August into September, when the salmon can be seen leaping through curtains of water on their journey to spawn.

Take a scenic flight from Homer to Brooks, where the National Park staff will greet you on arrival and provide a safety briefing. After, the area is yours to explore at leisure. There are two strategically placed viewing platforms connected by walking trails offering the best views of brown bears at home in their natural habitat in Katmai. Knowledgeable park staff are available to answer any questions, before returning to Anchorage for the evening.

If time permits, you may consider overnight stay at Brooks Lodge.
