A rail journey through Alaska is one of the most relaxing ways of getting around as well as offering stunning views of mountains, coastline and wilderness rolling past the windows. Nowhere is this truer than Alaska with its excellent Alaska Railroad.
This iconic railroad extends 470 miles from the coastal community of Seward to the interior city of Fairbanks. Travelling through some of Alaska’s most spectacular scenery, it’s a relaxing and scenic journey taking in Whittier, Anchorage, Talkeetna and Denali National Park en route. This makes the train an ideal alternative to driving, allowing you to sit back and enjoy your surroundings in comfort.
Head north and look out for Mt McKinley, North America’s highest peak, which sits in Denali National Park, or if you travel south from Anchorage to Seward, it’s possible to see belugas swimming in the bay. Rail travel in one direction can be combined with coach or rental vehicle for a comprehensive exploration of Alaska.
Our collection of Alaska holidays include self drives, independent holidays and escorted tours some of which make use of the Alaskan Railroad to travel around, through national parks and between cities.
I understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and that’s why you have the freedom to design your experience, your way.
