The gateway to Alaska, Anchorage is the state’s largest city and main air hub. Perched on the shore of the sparkling Cook Inlet, with a panoramic backdrop of the Chugach Mountains, nearly half of Alaska’s population live here. The city boasts some interesting museums and galleries and great day hikes and bike trails, as well as a choice of shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
Your holiday should feel like it’s been designed just for you. I’m here to make that happen with a personal touch and local insights.

Highlights
Kenai Peninsula
The ports of Whittier and Seward are embarkation points for onward journeys by boat to explore glacier-strewn Prince William Sound and Kenai Fjords National Park. This area is best known for its marine wildlife – orcas, humpback and grey whales, as well as Steller’s sea lions, sea otters, porpoises and countless seabirds.

Highlights
Anchorage
This modern city is surrounded on all sides by wilderness. From here many of the state’s main attractions are easily accessible – head north to Denali National Park, east to the Wrangell Mountains and southwest to Katmai National Park and Kodiak Island.

Highlights
Wrangell-St Elias National Park
East of Anchorage, Wrangell-St Elias borders Glacier Bay National Park, Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge and Canada’s Kluane National Park to form the largest protected area on the planet, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wrangell-St Elias alone is larger than Switzerland and boasts the world’s largest non-polar icefield, countless glaciers, mountains and a still-smoking volcano. The former mining settlements of Kennicott and McCarthy provide a glimpse into life in the heart of this vast Alaskan wilderness.
