Alaska’s second largest city, Fairbanks, was founded during the goldrush in the early 1900s and lies at the heart of the state. Here you can visit the excellent Museum of the North, home to an eclectic collection of Alaskan artworks and carvings as well as displays about the state’s bountiful flora, fauna and geology. Don’t miss a trip to Pioneer Park too, where you can enjoy a hearty Alaska Salmon Bake.
The Richardson Highway from Fairbanks joins the Alaska Highway, travelling through the riverside town of Delta Junction and across the border into Canada’s Yukon Territory. From here it continues south, all the way to Dawson Creek on the British Columbia/Alberta border. The alternative route into Canada is the Taylor Highway from Tok, which travels via Chicken into the goldrush town of Dawson City, Yukon.
I understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and that’s why you have the freedom to design your experience, your way.
