A remote mountain range deep in Iceland’s central highlands, Kerlingarfjöll is an extreme paradise of steaming geothermal valleys, glacial rivers, perennial snow fields, and panoramic vistas. Located in the Ásgarður Valley at the edge of Kerlingarfjöll, Highland Base is a sanctuary of warm comfort, hearty cooking, and geothermal bathing – a place to relax and recharge in the heart of a forbidding environment. Only accessible by superjeep between October and early June, the journey to Kerlingarfjöll is the start of your highland adventure.
Itinerary & Accommodation
On arrival at Keflavik international airport transfer to Reykjavik where you will stay overnight. This compact, cosmopolitan city is easy to explore on foot.
Make your way to Reykjavik Terminal for your transfer to Highland Base. Travel by minibus to a meeting point in the Golden Circle and join the superjeep transfer for the onward transfer to Highland Base, transfer duration varies depending on weather and snow conditions.
Highland Base Kerlingarfjoll
A full day to choose from a selection of excursions (pre booking recommended) and relax in the geothermal baths.
This morning depart on the Superjeep transfer back to the Golden circle and onwards by minibus to Reykjavik. On arrival in Reykjavik make your way to your hotel. Transfer duration varies depending on weather conditions, you may have some free time in Reykjavik this afternoon.
Transfer to Keflavik airport in time for your return flight.
