aranui v exterior view

Overview

Specifically designed as a dual-purpose passenger and freighter vessel, this ship combines the comfort of a cruise liner with the practicality of a supply ship, serving the Marquesas Islands – one of the world’s most remote archipelagos.

Maximum passengers: 230

In Tahitian, “Aranui” translates to “The Great Highway,” a fitting name for this freighter to paradise. Serving as a vital lifeline to the Marquesas Islands, it delivers essential supplies to main villages and remote valleys.

The other side of the ship is focused on passenger comfort. Featuring air conditioning throughout, its interiors are adorned with Marquesan designs, Paul Gauguin prints and original artwork by Erhard Lux, a German artist and long-time island resident. There’s a lovely outdoor pool and plenty of deck space to enjoy the spectacular landscapes.

The cruise includes three meals with complimentary wine daily, guided excursions, picnics, and meals on shore. Guided shore excursions include hikes to waterfalls; jeep trips to explore mysterious unspoiled jungles, mountain villages and ancient temples; visits to local galleries and museums. And there are opportunities to snorkel in the translucent waters of the atolls on the more traditional palm fringed French Polynesian islands of Tuamotu and Bora Bora.
