Edgewater Resort Hotel, Wanaka

Overview

With a lakefront location that offers lake and mountain views, this resort hotel in Wanaka has 104 rooms in one of the country’s most notoriously beautiful areas.

When not exploring the region on your own, the hotel includes tennis courts, mini-golf, pool and sauna, all for enjoyment by guests, while the children’s playground keeps the little ones active as you unwind in style.

The hotel’s Sargood Restaurant is named for Percy Sargood who purchased the Wanaka Sheep Station, at the time, one of the country’s largest, in 1912 and is set on what was once part of his land. Now offering a contemporary atmosphere that soaks up Wanaka’s vistas in the outdoor ‘Pavilioní’ or ‘Terrace’ dining areas, it serves a la carte meals in the evening and mouth-watering breakfasts each morning. The Wineglass Cafe features an inviting lounge with cocktail bar and large open fireplace, which, in turn, opens to sunny terraces with lake views. The cafe serves light meals and snacks throughout the day.

Offering studio rooms, one-bedroom suites and two-bedroom apartments, this is a marvellous choice for those on honeymoon or would like more space than the typical hotel. All rooms are en suites with hairdryer, TV, tea and coffee facilities and fridge. The suites or apartments include kitchenettes or kitchens, with a spacious dining area and in-room laundry facilities, as well as a balcony or patio. While the one-bedroom is comfortable for a self-catering couple, the two-bedroom is ideal for a family or group of friends travelling together.
