With slick, modern design, the M/V Hondius is one of the strongest vessels of its category in the polar regions.
Maximum passengers: 174
The M/V Hondius is the first passenger vessel to be built to ‘Polar Class 6’ standard, making it one of the strongest ice-strengthened vessels available – ideal for advanced and exploratory polar journeys. The Hondius also exceeds the requirements of the Polar Code as adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), using only bio-degradable paints, LED lighting, steam heat, and flexible power management systems to keep fuel consumption and CO2 emission at the absolute minimum. Stabilisers make for smooth sailing whilst two separate gangways ensure a quick and efficient embarkation process into the fleet of Zodiacs.
Named after a 16th century Dutch cartographer, the Hondius is a perfect blend of polar explorer and modern hotel. Superior accommodation comprising of 82 cabins, offering a superb level of comfort in an informal and cosy atmosphere. Ship facilities include a dedicated presentation room, an observation lounge, bar and library.
Stay trigger happy. The penguins and whales likes to keep us on our toes on an Antarctic Cruise, which means they can appear when you're least expecting it. Guides will announce a sudden sighting on the ship intercom but be prepared because they can happen when you're eating, taking a shower or fast asleep.
