Overview

Best known as the home of tango, there’s far more to Argentina than sultry dance moves – although we highly recommend a visit to one of Buenos Aires’ tango bars. The country promises an intense, unforgettable swirl of culture and natural wonders, from the colourful streets of La Boca to the thundering cataracts of Iguazú Falls and the crackling blue ice of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

With the majority of small-ship voyages to Antarctica embarking from Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina, adding-on a few days in this vibrant country is a natural choice. From tango in Buenos Aires to trekking in Patagonia, our extension packages can be tailored to suit you.

A wise person made a sign in Ushuaia that says, 'the end of the world – the beginning of everything…' and we're here for it.

Best time to visit Argentina

Because Argentina is so vast, with diverse landscapes spanning several climate zones, combining more than one region in a single trip often means you experience a wide range of weather conditions. Argentina’s climate varies from subtropical in the north (Iguazú Falls) to subpolar in the south (Tierra del Fuego).

Much of central Argentina, including Buenos Aires, has a temperate climate with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters. In the far northwest, it becomes more arid, with summer temperatures soaring to 40°C, while Mendoza has more of a Mediterranean climate, conducive to its vineyards (the grape harvest usually takes place in March). The summer months are the best times to travel to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego for hiking and sightseeing.
