Overview

Whether you walk, hike, tramp or trek, taking to the trail and exploring is one of life’s simple pleasures and the perfect way to immerse yourself in the world around you. From leisurely fly drives incorporating daily hikes to multi-day guided treks, our collection of walking and trekking holidays showcase some of the finest scenery in the world.

Our small-group hiking holidays enable you to get away from the tourist trail and explore different areas. Enjoy the company of others and let your expert guide take care of the navigating while you focus on the spectacular surroundings. Take your pick of small-group holidays in Iceland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Norway.

Get to know the people of the land. Hiking in New Zealand means exploring the landscapes, and getting familiar with the Māori concept of tangata whenua –  the idea that the land and the plants, animals and people living on it are connected spiritually and physically.

Guided walking holidays

The varied landscapes and accessible natural wonders of Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, Canada and Australia offer abundant opportunities to explore on foot and at a level to suit you. In addition, the wilderness destinations of Alaska, Greenland and the Falklands are ideal for trailblazing.

With trips varying from a couple of hours to several days in duration, you can opt for a dedicated hiking holiday with an expert guide or incorporate specific trails into an independent touring holiday.

Independent hiking holidays

Offering the best of both worlds, these holidays allow you to explore on foot at your own pace, but with the logistics taken care of. In Iceland you don’t have to travel far to find some excellent walking trails and can experience the freedom of a self-drive holiday as well as finding plenty of time to explore on foot.

Similarly, New Zealand also offers hundreds of well-marked and scenic walking trails in national parks throughout the country – some of the finest can be tailored into a hike and drive adventure.

In Norway, the scenic island of Senja is a microcosm of the country and is ideal for week-long self-drive interspersed with hikes.

New Zealand is a hikers paradise with its acclaimed Great Walks, including the world-famous Milford Track. Many of these multi-day tracks are located on the South Island including the highly-rated Routeburn Track, which offers forested valleys, alpine passes and river flats contrasting wonderfully with the verdant coastal paths of the Abel Tasman Track. On the North Island, the Tongariro Alpine Trail through volcanic scenery is recognised as one of the best one day walks in the world.
